The 45% clock speed boost alone isn’t enough to generate such a large performance increase, this is a new microarchitecture. Bozeman, MT Drops Password Info Requirement

mcmoodle writes “Bozeman, Montana has decided that they don’t want applicant personal information after all, citing a worldwide backlash on the issue: ‘”Effective at noon today the city of Bozeman permanently ceased the practice of requesting that candidates selected for positions under a provisional job offer to provide their usernames or passwords for candidates’ internet sites,” said Chris Kukulski, Bozeman City Manager. … Kukulski says after a 90 minute staff meeting held earlier today, officials decided asking applicants to provide their passwords to sites such as Facebook or MySpace, “exceeded that which is acceptable to our community.” Kukulski apologized for the negative impact the issue has generated from news organizations and blogs around the world.’ I didn’t have any doubt this would be immediately squashed. Now I’m just curious as to how many personal accounts they actually went through!”

iPhone 3G S chipset handles 720p video recording at 833MHz

Rapid Repair identified the chipset as the SoC S5PC100 from Samsung and thus confirm an ARM Cortex A8 running at 600 MHz (operates at up to 833MHz though) and the ability to record 720p video and handle real-time video conferencing should Apple choose to go in that direction (iPhone 3G S records VGA only). iPhone Software, Hardware and Carrier: 2 Out of 3 Ain’t Bad


The Apple-focused blogosphere is positively hopping this week, and it’s all about the new iPhone 3G S and new iPhone OS 3.0 — with a little sprinkle of AT&T action thrown in. Early reviews have been largely positive about the new 3G S, pegging it as a evolutionary upgrade rather than anything revolutionary. As for the new operating system that’s available to existing iPhone owners, most everyone seems pleased, too. As for AT&T, well, you might think the company could get at least a little love.
