Jets Breaking The Sound Barrier

Here are some breathtaking images of some jets breaking the sound barrier. The white halo is formed by condensed water droplets which are thought to result from a drop in air pressure around the aircraft. It seems that this usually happens around 1,004.5 km/h (623.8 mph) and was first officially recorded October 2, 1941 in the prototype Me-163a V4.
